TMTC News!!! Motor Carrier News UPDATES........Federal Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (IRS Form 2290) is due July 31, 2008! Send your 2290 Forms to TMTC as soon as you receive them. Hurry to avoid expensive IRS penalties and interest charges! News UPDATES........Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) was implemented on September 10, 2007, to be enforced by November 15, 2007. Carriers that operate intrastate and interstate will no longer have to renew TXDOT, except for the following: Interstate Carrier - Comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requirements & Register with UCR Exclusively Intrastate Carrier - Register with TXDOT as a Motor Carrier Exclusively Intrastate Carrier transporting oversize/overweight loads - Register with TXDOT as a Motor Carrier OR Interstate Carrier that also operates Intrastate, using commercial motor vehicles as defined in Transportation Code (TRC) Chapter 643 and when operating as a: 1. Charter bus carrier 2. Non-consent two truck carrier 3. For-Hire household goods carrier, or 4. Recyclable and waste carrier, *Comply with FMCSA requirements *Register with TXDOT as a motor carrier AND *Register with UCR IMPORTANT NOTE: All first time registrants in this category must also register with TXDOT as a motor carrier.
