Effective January 1, 2015, all trucks with IRP (apportion) license plates must register for all 48 states and 10 Canadian provinces, but are only charged for the states operated.
TEXAS INSPECTION STICKERS
Effective March 1, 2015, Texas will no longer issue inspection stickers. Drivers will be given a Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR) instead. It is important to retain the VIR to present to law enforcement, or to renew vehicle registration.
MILEAGE TRIP SHEETS
Per Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, it is now MANDATORY for carriers to record both odometer readings and route of travel on all mileage trip sheets maintained.
TOKEN TRAILER REGISTRATION
Texas no longer issues a registration sticker for Token plates. The receipt issued upon renewal is the only form of registration and must be kept in the pulling unit or trailer at all times as proof of valid registration. Carriers may remove expired stickers if so desired.
